COPS are out in the streets in Nottingham to stop a spiral of violence after a man was shot in broad daylight this evening.
Police said they fear further attacks as tensions run high between rival groups in the city which has been plagued by shootings.

Officers are conducting searches after a man was shot in the leg in St Ann's area around 5pm this evening.
He has been taken to hospital by ambulance but the man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Enquiries are continuing and extra officers and support agencies are being brought into the area to investigate and help provide reassurance, cops said.
A heavy police presence remains in the area and Lotus Close has been closed as officers continue their enquiries.
Nottinghamshire Police have said they are using Section 60 powers overnight in the area to stop and search to "keep people safe" as tensions "are high between groups", they said.

The Section 60 order is in place until 7am tomorrow morning and will be in effect in both St Ann’s and Radford, police said.
Chief Inspector Simon Allardice said: “We have received recent information and intelligence that indicates tensions between groups from these areas remain high.
"This is turn gives rise to a belief that there will be further violence in these areas.
"As such, we believe the use of Section 60 search powers are an appropriate and proportionate response to mitigate these threats and to keep the public safe."

She continued: "We therefore have invoked Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 within the areas identified, which will allow officers to stop and search anyone within these areas for weapons.
“In so doing, we will send a message to potential offenders and the community that the carrying of weapons will not be tolerated, nor will further acts of violence.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident number 735 of 26 July 2018, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
